During the preview of the 7th Berlin Biennale on April 26th, Visual Arts Flanders 2012 and Walter Moens, the Representative of the Flemish Government in Germany, have the honour of inviting Chris Dercon, director of Tate Modern for a round table event with the curators of the major exhibitions clustered within Visual Arts Flanders 2012: Beaufort04, TRACK, Middelheim Museum 2012, Manifesta 9 and Newtopia. This round table conference is set up in close collaboration with KW Institute for Contemporary Art. The Biennale context provides ample room for elaborate discussion on the role of biennials and exhibitions inside and outside walls in the (visual) arts scene and society. The conference will be hosted at a historical and recently renovated building, that is situated across the K-W, the location of the Biennale, and this former Jewish girls’ school is currently a spot worth visiting in Berlin, in the vicinity of the Biennale grounds.
